If a file system filter driver or minifilter driver does not specify a load order group, it is loaded after all the other drivers of the same start type that do specify a load order group. The following table lists the system-defined load order groups and altitude ranges for minifilter drivers.

If you do not specify the 'Order in Group', the driver will be loaded after all the other drivers are loaded. • Set the Load Order Group to which the driver has to be a member, by selecting a group from 'Load Group' drop-down. Background Note: The Load Group specifies the Load Ordering Group in which the Driver is a member. The list of Load Ordering Groups in order is stored in the Windows registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE System CurrentControlSet Control ServiceGroupOrder. The startup program uses this list to Load Ordering Groups of Drivers in a specified order with respect to the other groups in the list.

The Driver will be added to the list and will be loaded as per the 'Start Type' specified while adding it. Viewing Details, Editing Parameters and Unregistering/Removing a Driver Clicking on a service in the list opens a details panel at the right hand side. The details panel displays the following: • The full name of the Driver with the version and the publisher; • The digital signature information of the Driver; • The start type and other parameters of the Driver; • The current status of the service. This interface also allows you to: • • • To change the run status of a Driver • Click on the Driver from the list. The Details panel will open.

Is it safe to copy and replace the driver? If so, how can I do this using the terminal? Many thanks for any help, it would be much appreciated regards, Hugh. You simply don't need any AV software in Ubuntu (or any other *nix) unless you mess around with Windows stuff in Wine.
The order in which a Driver starts is determined by the following criteria: • The order of groups in the registry's Load Ordering Group list. Drivers of the groups in the list are started first, followed by Drivers in groups not in the list and then Drivers that do not belong to a group. • The Driver's dependencies listed in the ' parameter and the dependencies of other Drivers dependent on the Driver. • Set the other Driver or the 'Load Ordering Group' that must be loaded before the Driver from the 'Depend on Group' drop-down. Background Note: Dependency on a Driver/Service means that this Driver can run only if the Driver/Service it depends on is running.

Hello, my name is Fred Jeng from the Global Escalation Services team. For today’s post, I want to go over how Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 load file system mini-filters in a mixed environment when legacy filters are also present. I recently came across an issue where the filters were being loaded out of order based on their altitudes.
For reference, I am running 32-bit Fedora 20 with 990.6 MiB memory, an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, GNOME version 3.10.2 and a 115.7 GB hard disk. I installed CAVL but the status panel at the side says, 'Filesystem filter driver not loaded'. Trying to fix this leads me through the following: • Click 'Run diagnostics' • Run /opt/COMODO/cavdiagnostic as root user • It gives the message, 'Kernel module 'redirts.ko' appropriate for current kernel version does not exist. Please run /opt/COMODO/post_setup.sh to install it. Then run /etc/init.d/cmdacd restart to start cmdavd service' • It gives the same message for 'avflt.ko' • If I run post_setup.sh, after going through the EULA I end up with the output I have copy/pasted below and the problem is not fixed. (Note: I removed the optional registration and language choice from the output I pasted since these seemed irrelevant.) /opt/COMODO/post_setup.sh: line 50: /sbin/hdparm: No such file or directory Build the RedirFS kernel modules for real-time protection.
Also, AV software slows things down to a crawl. Most modern viruses are too complex to be caught be Comodo or its cohorts. You might consider a hosts file that turns away sites known for bad behavior. A good sample--intended for Windows but usable without modification in Ubuntu--may be found here:. Notepad pro 5 256. At this point is I don't know what the answer is but I gave it my best go- Does anyone have any ideas??
I tried everything I could to get this to work - I guess persistence pays! For anyone else with the same problem, I suggest you install 'gcc'. This is a compiler so when you run '/opt/COMODO/post_setup.sh' the Redirfs installs correctly, which is the driver which Comodo AV uses for on-access scanning. Here are some of the things I tried: 1) Uninstall Comodo AV with command 'rpm -ev CAV_LINUX' 2) Install 'gcc' via Software Management tool / Apper. I didn't know which 'gcc' to install so I installed three – 'gcc – various compilers (C, C++, Objective C, Java)', 'gcc-c++' and 'libgcc'.

After running diagnostics it says: 'The kernel module 'redirfs.ko' appropiate for your current kernel version does not exist, please run /opt/COMODO/post-setup.sh to install it. Then run 'etc/init.d/cmdavd restart' command to restart your cmdvd service.' I have tried running these commands, but get a message that bash does not recognise them. Someone on this forum has had a similar problem and solved it, but I do not understand how they did it. Apparently they downloaded some filter drivers, but I am not clear where or how to do that, or how to uninstall Comodo completely before installing the drivers. I am disappointed that Comodo AV was not already available in Software Manager, but I suppose that is because it is a proprietary program. Can anyone help?
[ OK ] COMODO Antivirus is successfully configured, you can start it from Menu or Desktop. The program does seem to download updates successfully and acknowledges this. Many thanks in advance for your help and support!
I think this one only runs manually, but that would not be too much of an overhead on the laptop Also see that sammiev recommends Bitdefender, so would be a good alternative? Does this one only run manually? Ubi_one_2014, you mentioned clamav and clamtk, what is the difference between these two? Is there a gui version available? Does this one also run manually? Thanks again for your responses.
Thanks, Richard. I'm pleased to say I've finally managed to resolve this issue and get on-access scanning enabled on my Fedora 19 linux machine! This can cause all sorts of problems with a filter driver’s functionality if they are incorrectly positioned on the stack. Take for example the following filter stack, obtained using the fltmc command from the cmd prompt: C: Windows system32>fltmc Filter Name Num Instances Altitude Frame ------------------------------ ------------- ------------ ----- AVLegacy 389998.99 EncryptionLegacy 149998.99 AVMiniFilter 3 328000 0 luafv 1 135000 0 FileInfo 13 45000 0 At first glance it looks like there is a problem causing the legacy encryption filter to be loaded above the antivirus minifilter, which has a higher altitude. This may cause issues with AVMiniFilter as the IOs that it receives are still encrypted.
Therefore, the order in which drivers are loaded will play an important role in the control of the device. If ownership is exclusively claimed by a Driver (because it was loaded first), any further attempts by other drivers to access the device will be denied. The order in which the driver loads with respect to the other drivers is specified by the registry key 'ServiceGroupOrder key.' , set for that driver. If you do not specify the 'Order in Group', the driver will be loaded after all the other drivers are loaded. • Set the Load Order Group to which the driver has to be a member, by selecting a group from 'Load Group' drop-down.
